@NYCMayor
’s recent op-ed on his veto of Council legislation to address homelessness through improved access to CityFHEPS vouchers makes many misleading claims. We released an annotated version that fact checks the Mayor’s claims with links to citations.
In the Council’s Preliminary Budget Response, we call for $3.1 billion to reimagine the city’s streetscape, including 500 miles of new bus lanes, 500 miles of protected bike lanes and 38 million square feet of pedestrian space.

@NYCMayor
’s decision to veto our housing voucher bills only hurts New Yorkers by delaying these solutions. If the Mayor won’t help address this crisis, we will do it without him.

The Council is considering a resolution to call on the New York State Legislature to pass the New York Health Act.
@MarkLevineNYC
, Chair of the Committee on Health, spoke in support of this resolution on the steps of City Hall.
The Council has voted to override the Mayor’s vetoes of bills to address the homelessness crisis by helping low-income New Yorkers avoid evictions, move out of the shelter system, and expand access to CityFHEPS housing vouchers.

NYPD's own training guide makes clear that casual conversations and interactions with the public don't constitute Level 1 investigative stops. Int. 586 added language to also explicitly exempt them.
New Yorkers deserve transparency, not misinformation.

Last month, we overwhelmingly passed housing voucher bills to help people avoid eviction or move from shelters to permanent housing.
Now, after more than a year of inaction by
@NYCMayor
’s Administration, he vetoes help for New Yorkers.
We are prepared to override this veto.
Non-profit contracted workers provide so much for New Yorkers in need, but their wages are woefully out of step with the salaries of other workers in similar jobs.
That’s why we are calling on the City to commit to a multi-year pay increase for these essential workers!
#JustPay
97% of the stops made by the mayor’s new NYPD unit were of Black and Latino New Yorkers, despite the fact that they make up less than half of NYC’s population.
