🧵1/10 It’s hard to believe it’s been 21 months since I took office. Yesterday, we held a state of the district to look back on the past two years of work. From block parties, to rallies, to the chambers at city hall, my team and I have centered neighborhood voices.

INT 111-A, sponsored by @CMAlexaAviles, requires annual public reporting on vacant @NYCHA units, including reasons for vacancy and efforts to fill them, increasing transparency and accountability to move New Yorkers into homes faster.

Lawmakers and advocates say the laws are meant to help the city better meet the needs of the nearly 34,000 migrants still in its shelters. “There’s honestly no excuse,” said Immigration Chair @CMAlexaAviles. “They haven’t disappeared. They are still here.”

Today, the Committee on Immigration held an oversight hearing on legal services for immigrant New Yorkers and reviewed a resolution condemning the Trump administration’s use of a federalized national guard to repress free speech and advance an anti-immigrant agenda.

United Senior Center of Sunset Park, a true institution of our neighborhood, has been reopened! Earlier this year, their landlord demanded untenable rent increases. Luckily, @NYCCouncil and the NYS Assembly, we were able to allocate $1.1M and save the center.
