Great work by @TheIFS colleagues on housing supply. Spoiler: England does build enough houses overall, but not where they're needed... See @David_Sturrock's excellent thread below for very nice insights.

We estimate that once fully rolled out, the two-child limit will increase the number of children in relative child poverty by 500,000. Read Eduin Latimer and @TomWatersEcon's briefing on the impact of the two-child limit: https://t.co/4kkkamAe7U

That 2/3 of people in the world's most populous country get food through a public distribution system is a thing economists don't talk about as much as you'd expect.

Advice for scholars: next time you lecture on Kant and revolutions at “Downing” (@DarwinCollege) Cambridge, make sure your hair is neatly tied and that you’re not blonde. Or else your research impact will be on the @spectator libido section.

This graph. I've seen versions of it many times but I'm still shocked by how much of public spending is taken up by health (below is a projection, but these days it's close to 50% of day to day spending)
1. Health dwarfs other departments. Choices on NHS have a big effect on overall size of the state and/or money available for other areas Total public spending is due to rise by 1% p.a. (real-terms) in next parliament. ‘Protecting’ some areas, incl. NHS, means 3% p.a.cuts for most
