NEW: Air pollution in England has halved since 2003 after falling substantially during the pandemic, but inequalities in exposure remain. @LucieGadenne, @LeroutierM, @rodrigo_toneto and Bobbie Upton’s new report examines how air pollution has changed in England over 20 years:

Having written extensively about how real wages have risen strongly for working class Americans since 2019, let me be clear about a few things, on both the facts, and how we should interpret them. 🧵

Timely reminder : Bluesky is a nice alternative to X. It has grown a lot over the past months, esp. among academics. Folks have done starter packs allowing you to easily connect with interesting profiles from your field. It's only missing some more journalists & policy people

So very happy about EALE's choice! Léonard (@LeonardBocquet), Federica (@f_meluzzi) and Carmen (@carmenvillaecon) are all brilliant and creative economists I've had the chance to have as former or current colleagues. Any department would be lucky to hire them!

🚨 Just published in @Nature w @gemmadipoppa 🚨 We argue that reducing crop burning in South Asia, responsible for toxic air for 100s of millions, is not completely intractable. We show bureaucrats exert control when incentivized, w large consequences for pub health Details 👇

How can researchers write accessible summaries of academic research? After editing ~350 @vox_dev articles, I hopefully have something useful to say. Here are the key takeaways from editing first drafts of academics trying to write for policy audiences 🧵 1/10

Help! For teaching, I'm looking for a good summary of policies implemented in European countries during the 2022/2023 energy crisis (such as price caps for gas and electricity bills). Ideally also discussing their effectiveness. Any hint? Papers, reports, any format welcome
