*Very* excited to see the last study of my PhD making the cover of @ScienceMagazine on the macaques of @CayoSantiagoPR. We show that ecological disturbances can alter selective pressures on social ties leading to persistent societal changes. https://t.co/Zt4EJY5XWw 🧵👇

Nature giveth and taketh away. Great new paper from @CamilleTestard @ljnbrent & @CayoBiobank team! We previously showed monkeys boost social connections to survive natural disaster. But this increases the risk of communicable disease. Ecology Letters - Wiley Online Library

Some lovely fish ecologists, led by @kellerkopf, invited me and @phyllislee to help summarize the value of older individuals in animal societies and what we risk losing from their loss. Check it out! https://t.co/TmxnfUxRIT Loss of Earth’s old, wise, and large animals | Science

43P has been one of our social behaviour study subjects for 14 years. He lasted until the (old!) age of 23 and died recently, probably of old age. I'll miss his pointy hairdo and his close relationship with his (still living) older sister
