.@InsideNatGeo has awarded the 2022 Hubbard Medal to the late #NatGeoExplorer at Large Dr. Thomas Lovejoy! A giant in the field of conservation and an expert on the Amazon, but moreover an amazing human being. Honored to have known and worked with him.

Isaiah was such an esteemed, engaged and generous member of the #NatGeoExplorer community. We will miss him terribly, with the consolation of seeing his passion live on in all the students he has mentored.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of National Geographic Explorer Isaiah Nengo, a brilliant paleoanthropologist, mentor, and valued member of our Explorer community. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues.

I’m saddened by the passing of a luminary who lived a life of substance & purpose. I’m lucky to have worked with Tom over the last decade. His dedication, humor, and perennial optimism have been a constant source of inspiration - for me & the entire #natgeoexplorer community.
