When I first started on Twitter it was full of happy people. A while back I left off because it was full of people squabbling. I'm giving it another go. This time, no politics.

Percy the #whippet is not impressed by the fireworks. They've quietened down now but he's still rattled. How are your crew doing @casalindi?

@OUPAcademic I've been holding back on going public about this, but it's got to the point where I have to. My OUP trade/crossover book "Someone Else's Music" was published in the UK in late September and ever since then it has been extremely difficult for customers to buy it. /

If going to Screwfix, Toolstation and Greggs in one trip is the Holy Trinity of half term, what on Earth do we call it if we’ve also been to the tip and to Wickes?

Was genuinely moved listening to Lenny James on @BBCRadio4 Desert Island Discs: what an incredible man. If toxic masculinity is a problem, Lenny James is the answer. #BemoreLenny

Lovely to see @berkswildlife out today at Thatcham discovery centre laying another hedge. This will be a fantastic corridor for wildlife next spring and for years to come. By their own admission but rough and ready but the huge amount of work will be well worth it!

Love this! Overweight misfit wd be right choice if director of Louvre had been murdered. But screwed for different reasons. Trousers too slim fitting. Black coat with navy trousers. Tie and trousers mismatch blues. Collar points don't reach waistcoat. Umbrella shd not be checked.

Actual shot (not AI!) of a French detective working the case of the French Crown Jewels that were stolen from the Louvre in a brazen daylight robbery. Somehow he looks like he’s smoking even without a cigarette in his hand, but surely everything you know about life is screaming

Oh goody, time for my Neanderthal poem! There once was a lonely Neanderthal, Who was living a life less than wonder-thal, Until out of the mist Came a girl with a lisp, And he wondered whether she than't or thall.

Oh dear, @jeremycorbyn seems to be the one distorting facts, though sure he's simply mistaken. SAG advice cited concerns about protests outside and on way to ground. So @lisanandy right, was about safety for visiting fans, not from. UEFA rules require fans to be enabled to attend

I have written to Lisa Nandy, following her grossly misleading comments over the Maccabi Tel Aviv ban. This is about a group of fans with a history of racism and violence. It is not about banning Jewish people - and any attempt to conflate the two is shameful.

A colleague suggested nothing rhymes with Neanderthal, so I cam up with: There once was a lonely Neanderthal, Who was living a life less than wonder-thal, Until out of the mist Came a girl with a lisp, And he wondered whether she than't or thall.

Lispector such an amazing writer. Her short stories are intoxicating, experience of reading them akin to being bewitched. Master of the dizzying sense construction.
