A four lane road cutting through the most densely populated part of Wellington and NZTA still can't tell the Council where it's going - but apparently they can get in touch with over 200 property owners whose land they need for the new tunnels https://t.co/j2FN2eRifS

Wellington City councillor Geordie Rogers says a heads up on tunnel plans would have been nice ‒ especially given the wide-ranging impacts on the capital.

Day of shame for #NZ. In late timeslot towards end of high-level segment of UN General Assembly, Foreign Minister reveals what Cabinet decided 11 days ago: that unlike many others with whom #NZ normally is likeminded, Govt will not recognise #Palestine. Incomprehensible.

In a race to stand for nothing, we are increasingly heading for first place.
BREAKING: Winston Peters says is NZ is "not ready" to recognise Palestinian statehood. "We do not think the time is now." He says recognition at this time would be "open for political manipulation by both Hamas and Israel".

The electoral commission took 18 days to count & check 2,884,111 votes to ensure accurate results. It look Luxon 40 days to negotiate a coalition agreement with the only two partners he could choose from. These comments also undermine the integrity of our elections. Plz stop.

Like Trump, Luxon is trying to gerrymander the system by excluding 1000s of NZ voters. He claimed it was to speed up the vote count, but the Electoral Commission says it will not. So now he is insulting the Electoral Commission. Again, just like Trump.

In April 2025 Chris Bishop @cjsbishop increased the speed on the Otaki to Levin Road from 80 to 100kmh, against community opposition. Yesterday he called the road a 'death trap'. Yet he increased the speed on this 'death trap'. https://t.co/piwVj09HJG

It's not a coincidence that our bus patronage numbers are hitting all time highs. This term we've delivered more bus lanes than the seven previous councils combined

Cycle lanes were not a factor in this decision. Ray Chung is lying again.

Awesome to see WCC vote to boycott Israeli businesses and businesses on the BDS list from the new Diaster Resilience investment fund. Also kudos to John Apanowicz, who despite his membership of the National Party, voted for the investment exclusion motion.

Rongotai means “sound of the sea”. The name change of the electorate to ‘Wellington Bays’ was not consulted on, and does not make any sense. The new boundary brings in no additional bays to the electorate. Why change?

#France 🇫🇷 has made a very important decision to recognise #Palestine as a state. At @TheElders, we have advocated for recognition as a transformational step in encouraging a peace process. The onus is now on other holdouts like #NZ to move on this

Extraordinary that NZ Govt stopped councils working on District and Regional Plans. Noting that new RMA law is yet to take effect, nonetheless there is surely work which could & even must be done now. More broadly, central govt should be less controlling:

The shake-up, tied to RMA reforms, will have "unintended consequences", councils warn.

1. Tax break for NZ landlords is estimated to cost $2.9 billion over 4 years: “more than amount paid in Treaty settlements since 1985, which is about $2.7b”. Thus “more than has been paid out to Māori in 40 years as compensation for historical wrongs.” ➡️2
