We were thrown out of our workspace around this time, almost a couple years ago because we couldn’t make a payment. Today I was trying to fight back tears when the ISRO Chairman and Scientific Secretary inaugurated our first proper facility in Bengaluru.

This tiny little helicopter will be the first aircraft that will perform a controlled flight on another planet. WE'LL BE IN MARTIAN AIR!
Ingenuity, the Mars Helicopter I carry, is working as expected. I’m currently charging it, but once I set it down, it’ll rely solely on its solar panels. If it survives the brutally cold Martian nights, the team will attempt flight.

To put this into perspective, even Oxygen has a melting point of around -218.79 deg C or 54.36 kelvin (at 1 bar). So -266 deg C is really cold, and barely above the boiling point of Helium at 1 bar.
It’s difficult to sleep when there’s just one week left for the JWST launch! With some really, really cool (-266 deg C, pun intended) detectors being used for the instruments, this is the holy grail of space-based infrared imaging. Thrilled!! 🥶📿
