Maybe a hot take, but the best part of Paper Mario's and Baldur's Gate 3's comparatively low max HP is that this is the genuine reaction you have to slightly higher damage numbers. I love RPGs, but I have no reaction whatsoever to JRPG enemies doing 1450 damage instead of 1100.

it's crazy to me because things like Digimon and Yo-Kai Watch are literally right there, but nobody bothers to pay attention those series or even give them any attention.
Hell, even Monster Hunter does a good job with this kind of stuff. Very disappointed in a lot of people tbh.
Seeing several people say "we should support Palworld so that Game Freak finally has competition in the monster collecting genre" when all of these streamers collectively ignored Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince last month is going to be the start of my Joker arc.
