new paper out today with Serge, Clio, and Zak in Networks and Spatial Economics. We develop a bipartite spatial weights matrix extending spatial econometric models to account for multi-contextual spillovers with a focus on neighborhood/school effects.

do school attendance zones integrate diverse neighborhoods, or reinforce existing segregation boundaries? Our new paper in ASAP develops a new measure for taking a closer look and applies it to the 110 largest metros in the country.

Again, the democratic counter strategy here is statehood for dc and pr. Existing precedent, overwhelmingly popular, and expanding the electorate always a good presidential look….

bonus points: YIMBYism **does not mean housing degegulation**. It means matching the regulation with the scale of the market (read: *regional land policy*).

(aside, if you ever want to test for the presence of spatial spillovers in tax policies, I encourage you to work retail in Delaware during the school shopping season).

spatial econometricians have used the original Card & Kreuger paper for more than 20 years as a classic example of how NOT to setup that model, because spillovers . though of course now I can only seem to find the Lacombe paper.

the cost of rebuilding a network from scratch seems impossibly high. but this place is wack and bluesky is really nice. it would be cool if everyone were there.

the fact that *location* is a more salient identity during voting (than, say, ideology) speaks volumes about political strategy . if I were a strategist, i'd fit spatial models and focus on spillovers to capitalize on momentum. .

.@GovTimWalz represents the course-correction on class, rural & regional messaging that Dems have needed for decades. As someone for whom PLACE outstrips every other identity, I've never felt seen or represented in the White House in my lifetime & that would change with VP Walz.
