When they applied standard concussion tests to Long Covid patients, researchers noticed the same tell-tale issues. One was problems with eye-tracking movements, assessed via the King-Devick test, which measures the ability to scan numbers. https://t.co/LdqCcbObSe

"Quick sideline tests exist. My son’s league is committed to protecting its players. Each team has a trained safety officer with access to the sideline King-Devick test for which a baseline is established for each player at the beginning of the season." https://t.co/2ky6OQAXVG

What is the relationship between visual dysfunction during exercise & the development of persistent post-concussion symptoms (PPCS)? In this study participants who showed visual dysfunction following exercise were more likely to develop PPCS (71% vs 34%) https://t.co/MGiOkg4AHd

Mayo crew spent Saturday morning performing preseason concussion testing on 9-13 year old athletes. Baseline scores on King-Devick are used for future sideline concussion screening. Improving immediate recognition = better outcomes.

@NFLObjectors @AlixPopham @gingerandhoney @donnadlu @alanpearcephd My research identified a 1:10 witnessed to not identified concussions using the @kingdevicktest on every player after. Over a 22 match season 1 concussion every game for just one team. That’s a lot of people at risk

@ProgressiveRug @TomShanklin You can say your symptom free but are you really and what about physiological recovery. The @kingdevicktest helps detect changes through vision BUT a sport code does not like this

With so many field side solutions that are more direct and objective measures of brain function like @oculogica, @kingdevicktest and @wavimedical - to name just a few - there’s no excuse for this negligent treatment.

How can we not revisit everything McCrory has touched? Some of his worst offenses aren't even out yet, but more is coming. Current #concussion & #CTE policies are good for sports, but rarely good for athletes.
