Today it was confirmed that the president told the world's most infamous pedophile and child sex trafficker: "We have certain things in common." For any other president, it would be the biggest scandal of their lives, possibly career-ending. For Trump, it's just Monday.

Fact: in 2016 Trump stood accused in court documents of raping a young girl named Katie. He was running for president of the US. The woman dropped the case just days before the election and disappeared. Then Trump hired the prosecutor who gave Epstein the secret plea deal.

The degree to which the far right has flipped from "federal agents are jackbooted state assassins working for the UN" to "President Trump is our daddy god and we do what he says" really can't be overstated.

Crime in DC is at a 30-year low. It's not even in top 10 dangerous cities in US. Throughout history, autocrats use a false pretext to impose government control over local law enforcement as a prelude to a more national takeover. That's far more dangerous than the situation he

This is patently false. DHS has authority to question and search people coming into the country at points of entry. But ICE may not detain and question anyone without reasonable suspicion — and certainly not based on their physical appearance alone. This lawlessness must stop.

Can we stop calling these “cabinet meetings”? If you’ve got a full press scrum watching, it’s a press conference, not a meeting. Surrounding yourself with sycophants who can answer questions you want while stroking your ego is not the way a cabinet comes to informed decisions.

Climate activists have failed to make the case on climate change. Despite all the bad weather, just 40% of Americans are greatly worried about climate change. The same as in 2000. The % who worry about being a natural disaster victim has dropped from 38% in 2006 to 32% now.

When there’s political violence in western democracies it’s traditionally treated as a somber event for everyone to come together. That’s disappeared. The victims were gunned down just over a day ago and a US Senator is mocking the event and hinting at a deranged conspiracy.

It's truly disgraceful to watch Trump give a nakedly political speech at Fort Bragg, and encourage uniformed members of the military to boo and hiss political opponents. I realize we've given up on norms from the before times, but it's still awful and harmful to the military!
