I’ve been saying for decades that women would be imprisoned for abortions—they are in prison already for stillbirths, miscarriages & other pregnancy-related crimes—& anti-abortion advocates kept denying they would be so cruel. The gloves are off.

👏Really important new work from @davidJXgonzalez @rmfrosch @PhySciEng on racial disparities in oil and gas exposure in CA featuring some beautiful and saddening figures. Look at the gradient of increased exposure for NH-Black Californians to higher-producing oil and gas wells:

We already knew that oil and gas wells are more likely to be in Black, Latinx, and low-income neighborhoods. In this new study, we learned that these disparities were worst for Black people living in neighborhoods with the most intensive oil production 1/n

Our new paper on San Francisco's PPLO is out. Though paid leave has clear and well-documented benefits, the impact on health outcomes can be hard to detect in a population-based study. This partly has to do with limitations in who the policy is actually reaching. 👇
