Amy unexpectedly gave birth to her baby at home and everything seemed to be okay. But less than 12 hours later, Amy had to have a series of surgical procedures that ultimately led to her passing.

After a routine stress test, Sha-Asia’s doctors noticed her blood pressure was high and recommended inducing her as well as an epidural. After that, she went into cardiac arrest and her baby was delivered via C-section.

Amber literally tweeted on April 17, 2020 about how she could write a whole expose on “dealing with incompetent doctors” in the Bronx while Black and pregnant. Less than four days later, she died during an emergency C-section gone wrong.

On August 30, 2021, Denise’s mother Linda Magee received a call from an unknown 212 number. The coroner on the other end of the line informed Linda that her daughter had died without providing any information about Denise’s passing.

This is a practice that is still common today with the non-formal adoption of children into families as well as the "adopting" of unrelated adults into families. Black families are a site of power and love that speak to the importance of community. 4/4.
