"If power has to be maintained through overwhelming force, or even hastily built barriers, those of us standing in trauma on the other side have to wonder whoās really being protected." - @JustinNXT writes about his hometown of Minneapolis in the NYTimes today. Essential reading.
Hadn't planned to write about my hometown this week, but I couldn't ignore what I felt. All the panic from politicians, the barricades, curfews and overwhelming police/military response make it clear which lives matter to Minnesota

We as a country failed so horribly to protect residents of nursing homes and other long-term-care facilities from COVID. Hereās some of what we learned from tracking this tragedy for nearly a year.
Over the past 10 months, we've tried to determine how COVID-19 affected some of the people most vulnerable to the virus: residents of long-term-care facilities.
