For so many musculoskeletal conditions, to me, it makes so much more sense to bypass primary care and surgical specialties and simply go right to a physical therapist. Does not seem to be a very controversial opinion any longer to me.

“Receiving a history” by asking “open questions” has become a trend in Physical Therapy. Motivational interviewing and the likes have pushed open questioning, as has narrative medicine. BUT closed questions,used with INTENT, are essential for an effective history process.
