Kudos to @maud_maillard on her new paper in @jclinicalinvest! Our findings indicate NUDT5 is a key regulator of thiopurine metabolism, offering new insights into how cells strike the balance between de novo vs salvage purine synthesis.
Thiopurines for the treatment of cancer or autoimmune disease are limited by their toxicity. @MaudMaillard @Junjyang @StJudeResearch identify germline NUDT5 variants that affect thiopurine metabolism and cytotoxicity in children with ALL, having implications for individualized

Instead of listing my publications, as the year draws to an end, I want to put pressure on the commonplace assumption that productivity must always increase. Good research is disruptive and thinking time is central to high quality scholarship and necessary for disruptive research

Researchers identified distinct molecular subtypes of B-ALL that occur in different age groups explaining why cure rates vary between children and adults. The study suggests treatments should be tailored based on underlying molecular groups beyond age. https://t.co/bLphZdNkJA
