This is an important first step to protect and preserve one of Salford’s most historic landmarks. It is long believed that Engels and Marx were regulars back in the day. (2/2)

The attack at a synagogue in Crumpsall on Yom Kippur is shocking and deeply distressing. At this most sacred time in the Jewish calendar, my thoughts and prayers are with those affected, their families, and Jewish communities across Salford, Greater Manchester and beyond. 👇

#OTD in 1931, Salford saw the “Battle of Bexley Square”. 10,000 unemployed men & women marched peacefully against cuts to coal and unemployed allowance, only to be met with truncheons & mounted police. A reminder of brave Salfordians on whose shoulders we stand.

It was pleasure to visit Salford Cathedral and see the fantastic restoration work in action. The Cathedral is one of the true gems of our great city, and these works will help ensure its survival for future generations. Thank you @SalfordCathedra @SalfordDiocese for inviting me.

I’m proud to share that Pendleton will get £20M through Labour's Pride in Place initiative. That's £2 million every year for the next decade, with local people deciding how funding is spent.
