The decision to scrap the two child cap will lift nearly half a million children out of poverty. It is the right thing to do but next we need to drive a wider, ambitious programme of reform to restore fairness and rebuild our economy. My thoughts on the budget and what’s next 👇

I strongly welcome Salford City Council’s decision to exempt terminally ill people from paying council tax. Nobody facing a terminal diagnosis should have to worry about bills or enforcement letters when they should be focusing on their health and loved ones.

I joined cross-Party MPs in signing a motion calling for the Chancellor to abolish the two-child limit in the Autumn Budget. Ending this cruel policy would lift 670,000 people, including 470,000 children, out of severe hardship and transform lives across the UK.
