This project was one of the reasons I joined NREP. Super inspiring to see it truly coming to life and this holistic approach to sustainability coming to life.

Here’s how Dems can + must do more than wait for an election. Let’s start w/ why: - 7 of the 9 justices were appointed by a party that hasn’t won a popular vote more than once in 30 years - 1 of those seats was stolen - Several lied to Congress to secure their appointment…

They really truly tried a coup and had they had any sense they had the senior Pentagon’s loyalty they would have straight up tried to seize power with troops.

I would say electric bikes are going to redefine the city more than electric cars. Design your cities for electric bikes..

"For more than 90 years, there has been a tacit agreement in the US to treat the right to walk as dispensable, and to treat each death in traffic as an individual loss to be grieved privately."

A century ago, cars killed pedestrians and cyclists in record numbers. As traffic deaths rise again, it’s time to remember how US cities once responded to this safety crisis.

This perfectly captures the state of the political discourse on the Right. It’s a massive problem that much of the established media will keep pretending these are serious people because they feel the need to uphold the myth that there are two roughly equivalent sides/parties.

Never forget: Much of this is the result of deliberate political choices and could be remedied by political action. There are people responsible for what we are putting our children through. As long as America is still a democracy, vote them out. It doesn’t have to be this way!

Fifteen have been killed in a shooting at Robb elementary school, according to Governor Greg Abbott — 14 students and 1 teacher.    Abbott said the shooter is also deceased.

I do not want to read a single profile of the shooter. Enough. Nothing will allow us to predict which of the many, many troubled young man will turn to a mass shooter. Zero public interest in the individual details. It’s the access to the deadly gun that’s the key. That’s it.

It is so wild to me that they're holding CPAC in Hungary, openly celebrating Orban's defeat of democracy, openly planning to do the same in the US ... it's just all out in the open now. And still the media can't seem to convey it clearly to the public.

I’ll keep pointing this out— positioning the Buffalo massacre as one in a series of “mass shootings” is one way the establishment avoids placing it in the more accurate context of Jan 6, Rittenhouse as a GOP icon & Republican officials making threats toward colleagues

Every society harbors far-right extremists who dream of committing acts of fascistic violence. But in the U.S., they are heavily armed and find their ideology normalized by a rightwing media machine, their ideas amplified by Republican officials across the country. A thread:

The speed with which this far-right talking point - straight-up Nazi stuff - has been popularized, normalized, and, crucially, moved towards the mainstream of conservative politics is just breathtaking. And so, so very dangerous.

A self-described white supremecist traveled to a black neighborhood and murdered 10 people today, leaving behind a manifesto on the Great Replacement theory — a racist conspiracy theory endorsed repeatedly by Tucker Carlson, the nation’s most-watched political pundit

Here's a better visualization of homicide rates vs. crash fatality rates for the principal cities of America's 50 largest metro areas. One problem for U.S. #VisionZero activists is that, unlike Europe, people are far more likely to be murdered in a U.S. city than die in a crash.

I really think city leaders have to start grappling with the fact that the midtown economy— which was driven by crowds of white collar office workers…may never be the same. …and by extension the city itself may never be the same.

This is a major issue. This type of framing is not only factually inadequate, it also builds on and perpetuates the pervasive idea of #BothSides being to blame for “Washington” being a dysfunctional mess - a narrative that strongly privileges the Right’s assault on government.

The NYT editorial board thinks “America Has a Free Speech Problem” – and presents a purely mythical idea of what “free speech” is, an a-historical tale of the country’s past, and a narrative that is detached from the current reality of the political conflict. Some thoughts: 1/

Just an insane decision. And note that this lawsuit is being brought under the California Environmental Quality Act, though everyone, on all sides, knows the issues here aren't environmental. So please, stop telling me how CEQA has already been fixed. https://t.co/0UPhZd12Dy

A Berkeley homeowner who spends half his time at his second home in New Zealand used a California environmental law passed by Ronald Reagan to cut enrollment at one of the best universities in the world. This sentence is unbelievable, yet somehow entirely factually accurate.

It’s simply not possible that the US is leading a global fight to save democracy when the US senate can’t pass voting rights & the party that staged a coup last year is still regarded as a legitimate wing of the government. What are we even talking about?
