@guardiannews Sadly with 40% cuts to health visitors in England, fewer families get the support that they need. Services focus on firefighting & many areas no longer offer a HV antenatal contact. We need a national workforce plan to rebuild health visiting services in England @SteveBarclay

Yes it’s been quite a journey over 8 years. The impact on young families and other primary services such as GPs must have been massive. Huge mistake to move service to local authority commissioning and not protect its budget. Indeed cut it year on year and allow postcode lottery.
