PS - this was flight KE017 from ICN to LAX on Wed @ 2:30p for all of my fellow abandoned travelers.

@KoreanAir @UnitedAirlines Two days later and still not even an automated text/email from @KoreanAir about fare credit/comp. Just feeling lucky to have finally made it home after 35+ hours. /rant

@KoreanAir @UnitedAirlines Bottom line: snow in Seoul caused Incheon delays, averaging 2 hours. But @KoreanAir used this as a scapegoat to avoid compensating/helping pax, hung their own employees out to dry as a result of internal technical failures - while other airlines managed to (albeit delayed) fly.

@KoreanAir @UnitedAirlines Absolute failure of management by @KoreanAir. Thank you @unitedairlines for getting me out while KE continued to cancel flights and abandon patrons. Shocked not to see more press on this.

@KoreanAir @UnitedAirlines I met countless other travelers going to all destinations via @KoreanAir who had the same experience. Blame on weather for 12+ hour communication-less airport holds, tarmac sitting, and cancellation with ZERO follow up or attempt to remedy by KE or Incheon Airport. Insane.

@KoreanAir Some pax re-entered through immigration to get bags (as I did). This resulted in being held trying to leave from terminal 1 on a @unitedairlines flight for 30min while they verified. Pax who didn’t reimmigrate fast were detained by security in Terminal 2 for 4 hours.

@KoreanAir Passengers were deplaned to an empty concourse with no support staff. Rebooking counters supposed to open 30min prior unmanned, with 2+ hour lines. Baggage claim piled high with cancelled @KoreanAir bags & zero communication from airline. Million milers, FC and eco pax alike.

@KoreanAir After boarding for the 2nd time at 3am, the plane was driven to de-ice, then pax were told at 6am the flight was cancelled while other airlines took off on adj. runway. Proceeded to sit at gate for 1 hour waiting for jetway extension.

@KoreanAir Angry and hungry, passengers chanted begging @KoreanAir staff to cancel the flight. Staff did their best to rebuff yelling, exasperated pax asserting “the flight would most definitely depart soon”.

@KoreanAir Pax were told by staff to wait by gate from approx 1:30p til 3am. Meal vouchers distributed at 11:30p after paramedics came to help a woman who passed out/had a panic attack (ofc by this time, all food was closed except for a g25 convenience store).

Best guess is snowstorm caused a backend meltdown. Here were the 200+ @KoreanAir staff unable to leave the airport due to failed tech following snow.

Stayed up 43 hours starting @ 8am Wed KST due to insane @KoreanAir meltdown. 2:30p flight delayed 2hr @ a time, boarded 2x @ 7pm and 3am, held on tarmac 4 hrs, deplaned and abandoned w/ no follow up support @ Incheon Airport. Other airlines delayed 2ish hours but still flying. 🧵
