We are a rich country and yet millions have a cost of living crisis Prices are too high, incomes are stagnant yet the rich get richer Time to stop kicking people lower down the social scale (like asylum seekers) whilst protecting the rich Our problems start at the top

@jon_trickett No we're not. National debt is pproximately £2.9 trillion. This equates to roughly £96,000–£97,000 per household, based on an estimated 30 million households in the UK. The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) projects net debt interest spending to rise to £111.2 billion,

@jon_trickett We are not a rich country thanks to government actions. You act and spend like we are but we have not had growth for 20 years, the credit card is maxed. People think 46K is a lot of money, its not. This sits firmly with all you MPs in the house of parliament for the last two to

@jon_trickett The state doesn't provide our groceries. Tax doesn't equate to cheaper groceries.

@jon_trickett "We are a rich country..." The beginning of your Tweet shows exactly why @UKLabour doesn't understand the predicament we are in.

@jon_trickett We are £3.1 Trillion in debt, we are far, far from being rich, in fact we are bankrupt and when we have an MP writing such bollox we know we are in serious trouble.

@jon_trickett You Marxists are despicable. You bring in enough foreign opportunity seekers (oops, I mean “asylum seekers”) to get yourselves voted into power for eternity, then you pretend to blame the people at the top. YOU are the people at the top.

@jon_trickett No. Adding vast numbers of immigrants that are dependent on social welfare merely exacerbates the problem. You want to fix it? Reverse that. Stop the brain drain, encourage entrepreneurship, inward investment etc. Stop buying migrant voters with free stuff.

@jon_trickett The problems start - and finish - in Westminster with virtue signalling turds who claim that we must pay ever more taxes in order to fund their gimme-grant fetish. Fortunately, the current state of affairs - no EU to deflect blame on - means the British people see who is serving

@jon_trickett We spend too much on people who don’t contribute (like asylum seekers) We have a serious youth unemployment problem and don’t need more unskilled workers. We have wage suppression due to supply of workers exceeding demand. You force business people and wealth creators to leave

@jon_trickett Jon, what’s your insight into this. How is it the rich get richer whilst having a higher tax burden than most of our peers but the poor get poorer despite having a lower tax burden than most our peers…

@jon_trickett The rich want more immigration, especially the low skilled labour undocumented asylum seekers from the third world can provide. You claim to oppose income stagnation yet support it via importing workers who will work for less and suppress the wages of the British working class.

@jon_trickett A rich country? We're up to our ears in debt. Police and armed forces depleted and under-equipped, prisons full, NHS overwhelmed, housing shortage, many local authorities facing effective bankruptcy. We've got 1.9 million foreigners claiming benefits. We don't need any more.

@jon_trickett When has it not been that way? The alternative is a government controlled economy, where everyone is lower down on the scale.

@jon_trickett We’re a poor country that has city of london in it. Thats pretty much it. Average wage and living standard here is through the floor in comparison to what it should be.

@jon_trickett Or is it because Government is 40% plus of GDP? The larger Gov gets the worse it gets. The UK is also the worlds charity. Perhaps look introspectively before laying blame on the people who are most productive. The rich are so protected they’d left the county in droves 🤡
