As an ICU and emergency doctor, I can assure you that none of this is fun or profitable. I’ve filled out too many death certificates and witnessed too many final goodbyes by Zoom or FaceTime. I’ve seen colleagues get sick, and have worked 150% usual w/o any change in pay.

My team and I wear masks when implanting heart stents and valves to prevent infection. But there is more science to support the use of masks in public to prevent the spread of COVID-19. If people won’t wear masks in public why should I wear one in the cath lab?
