Threat of legal action forces @DefraGovUK secretary @SteveReedMP to "retake" decision to close Sustainable Farming Incentive scheme without notice.
A threatened legal challenge coordinated by the NFU & its members, which asserted that ministers acted illegally in suddenly closing the 2024 SFI scheme without notice in March, has forced the government to rethink. More to follow.

This was a great idea and a memorable NFU Council meeting - for all the right reasons. Well done @PhilLatham and @OllieDouglas 🦿👍🚜.
Finally made it up to collect #LensLeg for @TheMERL from Phil Latham. Phil’s grandfather Len lost a leg in the 1930s to a heavy horse. The leg became a symbol of farm safety. @johanntasker wrote about it for @FarmersWeekly. Beautiful day to see half of England!
