Unbelievable from
@Jacob_Rees_Mogg
- an absolute desire to annihilate British Ag - totally & utterly morally bankrupt. One thing’s for certain the Aussies would have deported him if he were representing them.
Jacob Rees Mogg: "I want cheaper food. I want hormone injected beef from Australia. I've eaten beef in Australia, it's delicious. There's nothing wrong with it."
I’m asking the question of
@RishiSunak
and
@trussliz
- who will be the PM to Back British Farming? It’s high time government took food seriously; UK Food Security should matter just as much as Energy Security. Please RT 🐄🐑🥕🌾
"In terms of the reductions that we're making to the subsidy payments, farmers have more than recouped that through the increased income they've been getting for the produce they've been growing" - Environment Secretary George Eustice.

I never wanted to have to write this, or be forced to campaign so hard. For two years there’s been a compromise available, the principle of which was supported by
@michaelgove
while
@DefraGovUK
Secretary of State.
I'm absolutely staggered that we have politicians championing the benefits of Brexit to deliver cheaper food. We have the third cheapest supply of food in the World. Every British citizen has a right to safe, quality, affordable and sustainably produced British food.

it’s been brilliant to see such leadership on food and farming standards from two of this countries favourite chef’s....
The terrible weather suffered right across the country should be a wake up call to ALL politicians that Food availability cannot be taken for granted. Maintaining and growing the UKs ability to produce quality, safe, affordable food must be a political priority for Brexit.
Rarely do I finish a day thinking I could eat a whole cake or down a bottle of wine 😓🍷🍰 today is one such day...if another member of government tells me to be positive...think I might explode 😤
Twitter can be a force for good, but it can be cruel, unforgiving, & sometimes never allows a right of reply. This weekend has been a tough one for me to witness. If you listen to my interview on
#DesertIslandDiscs
I hope you’ll understand why I’m so passionate about what I do.
I’m used to being described in fairly colourful language - hyperbolic is new one! Along with Lawson, Hannan and Colville this is painful reading, out of touch with the modern world and still banging on about cheap. High time we started to talking about the true value of our food.
I’m living, sleeping, breathing this, every minute of every day. Why? Because it really matters - we need a million people before next weekend. Please, please do all you can to help.

I was told recently by an MP that as President of

Who stands with British Farmers? 📷
Reform UK does, we will:
Scrap the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and replace it with a system that rewards farmers for producing high-quality food, enhancing animal welfare, and protecting the environment.
End the subsidies that distort…
Please share my message to

Decided today that I have to keep a diary. So many of you have said that I should, but the days are busy and it’s hard to make the time. There are things I can’t say - that oneday should be known. It’s probably never a book but a record must be kept. History will judge us all.
British agriculture is a magnificent strategic & economic asset which should be valued, not squandered.
We have the potential to lead the world in

Dominic Lawson clearly has no idea what
@NFUtweets
is actually asking for. We insist on car imports having certain levels of emissions, electrical goods that are certified. Why not food? I’d also remind him to read the Conservative manifesto....
My Sunday evening has so far resulted in calving a cow, stomach drenching the calf, feeding the orphan lambs and now heading off to another calving. Tend to forget that us farmers run a phenomenal NHS for our livestock. So make sure you

@ChrisGPackham
@FoodbyLizzi
@WeAreVeganuary
Chris, your data is incorrect livestock is actually 5% of GGE and compared to other parts of the world the U.K. Is 4 times better. It's surely all about a healthy balanced diet, and whatever people decide to eat they need farmers to produce it so work with us not against us.
Agriculture is the only industry that is both a source and a sink. So why can't everyone focus on the serious challenges like our clothing, technology, cars, holidays. Food waste?
It is a monumental day in the Brexit process and one that I bitterly disagree with. There is NO excuse for Govt not to apply a reciprocal tariff for grains. 99.8% of households eat bread made with 85% British wheat. And we have a huge harvest surplus of grain.
About to go on

For the record I want ELMS to deliver for environment & food, be profitable for ALL farmers. NO option for Upland farmers & not enough detail/reward for others in SFI is unacceptable. We must take time to get this right. Facing such injustice in the last 48hrs has been unbearable
Hand delivering my letter to

If anyone knows the true value of British food & Farming it’s
@SheilaDillon
she’s so right to say that it’s been a remarkable success story. As we enter the final stages of legislation on

we must ensure Parliament has scrutiny and final say on all FTAs.
We've had two inches of rain in two days, no grass growth and my farm has just had enough of this dire weather. But we've passed our TB test - a huge relief. Going clear feels more about luck than anything else, and that's not how it should be.
A day of media discussing government tariff schedule for a No Deal departure. I think what saddens me most is that this isn't democratic, no consultation or discussion with farmers or consumers & we're about to make the greatest change to our food system since 1945.
I’m always so grateful to the many brilliant journalists who continue to help me hold power to account. 9yr low in egg production equates to nearly a billion less eggs in 2022 compared to 2019. Great piece by

@DavidGHFrost
you have scrapped the common agricultural policy but you’ve replaced it with legislated environmental targets above the EU requirements - not one single target for UK domestic food production; or any commitment on a food self sufficiency target.
Very interesting meeting with the Swedish farmers union in Brussels today. In 1995 they were 90% self sufficient in home grown food. Swedish Govt introduced higher welfare standards and their self sufficiency has fallen to 50%. Gap filled by food produced to lower standards.

Worrying neither Dominic Lawson or Robert Colvile appear to have a clue what farmers, environmentalists & animal welfare experts are actually asking for. I’ll use this thread to try and explain...
Please look at this. It's not about remain verses leave it's about how we leave and what do we want our country to look like. Food values on welfare and environment need to be hard wired across Govt. And we must start that journey with reciprocal tariffs.
A no-deal Brexit would be catastrophic for British farming. We're calling for an urgent review of the government's no-deal trade tariff schedule. Here's why...
Going through endless press cuttings as I start to draft my book proposal; there’s a litany of broken promises. It was on this day last year that our now PM, Rishi Sunak committed to setting a new statutory
