's Unknown Pleasures was released. Its cover featured signals from the first pulsar CP1919. To mark the anniversary, we made this observation of the pulsar earlier today
Today we published data from the European Pulsar Timing Array

which provide emerging evidence for ultra low frequency gravitational waves like those expected to be produced by pairs of supermassive black holes from galaxy mergers. See, for example
Delighted to hear that the Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC) will continue to fund the e-MERLIN telescope through to 2022, including an increase in operational budget, more time with the Lovell Telescope & data analysis software development
We're thrilled to be able to announce today the opening date for our beautiful new First Light Pavilion.
We can't wait to be able to welcome visitors through our doors from 4th June 2022.

Yuri Gagarin became the first person to orbit the Earth just over 60 yr ago. He was invited by the Union of Foundry workers to visit Manchester. Here he is meeting Bernard Lovell, director of Jodrell Bank at the Townhall.
The Mk2 telescope is back, remotely observing pulsars & preparing to participate in the European VLBI Network session. Image shows the Mk2 stowed at the zenith (l) & back pointing on the sky (r). Kudos to all involved in slowly but surely bringing the Observatory back to life.
Happy 200th birthday

Thank you to everyone that has supported us on this wonderful journey! 📡🎉🥂
As government lockdown rules relax, our 42ft telescope has restarted observations. Next week, we hope to get the larger Mk2 telescope operational, just in time for us to participate in the next European VLBI Network session.

While JBCA astrophysicists spend a lot of time at Jodrell Bank Observatory, they spend most of their time at the Alan Turing Building in Manchester. I think we all walk into that building with great pride, with the daily belief that we build upon the shoulders of giants.
