So unique districts in Civ VII can form by putting two unique buildings together on a tile?. I smell Urban Complexity, Civ VII edition: combos for normal buildings. Not just yield swaps, but imagine e.g. Art Museums changing to Archaeology if put together with a University.

Spending way too much time on trying to hunt every last view of buildings in Civ VII, I think the Persian style Library is my favorite so far. Just a superb asset all around, with amazing detail on the textures and actual visible scrolls on the shelves.

Tried recreating Civ VII's plantation for Civ VI. What I like about the new art is that it uses the entire tile instead of leaving an unneccessarily wide margin.

After quite a few hours of trial & error, I got it. Really happy that I actually managed to get the reed plants to follow the waterline instead of just being randomly spread out.

On to the next: Finally updating Wetlands to make marshes no longer look like ink blots. Random scattering of reeds and grass didn't work out nicely. I like this handcrafted result but don't have a satisfying solution for how to bring it into the game yet, unfortunately.

These leader models are starting to look absolutely fantastic again. The Persian buildings, too. This angle and lighting truly brings the Gate of All Nations to new heights. Wasn't convinced about its looks before but here it's just stunning!

Civ 6: Districts now compete with improvements for space. Humankind: sprawling cities, farmland is just a border around it. Ara: only urban tiles, it seems?. Current 4X devs really hate rural areas, don't they? PLEASE, the ancient world was not an ecumenopolis.

Still a lot of adjustments left to do (tree size, weakening the grid, etc.) but in principle this shows the general direction I'm aiming for: seamless rural areas by using the farm plot system for more types of improvements.

Sometimes you just want to update one mod but the changes require so many compatibility adjustments that you end up hogging (almost) the entire "Last Updated" page at once, lol. It can be a lot of work but I hope Civ VII will once again allow this level of mod interoperability.

ngl I did not have "Civ VII whitewashing colonialism more than previous games" on my bingo card. By forcing terra map mode, they tore down in one fell swoop any progress made by ugprading "barbarians" and adding a Native American civ at launch. .

You may not like it, but this is what peat civ modding looks like!. - Peat now improved by farms so it doesn't break your floodplain farmland adjacencies.- Swamp finally a feature instead of resource now (can be removed, which replaces it with a regular floodplains feature)

I once again beg 4X devs to consult someone who knows about settlement patterns. These farmstead rectangles are in the middle of the field instead of on roads for some reason and this ancient city's suburbanism would make an American urban renewal planner from the 70s blush.

I won't stick to this new thumbnail style because it's tough to use with stuff like wonders where a single object is meant to be centered. But for landscape changes it's great and as I just turned these mods into their own series, I'm gonna keep the look there. More to come. ?

Pure insanity at this point just how stacked Hooded Horse's lineup has become. So many of the best strategy/builder as of late in there. Firaxis has been challenged by strategy giants Microsoft, SEGA, and Paradox. May God have mercy on us the day HH picks up a pan-historic 4X. .

It's finally out. Project 6T, with "Grand Eras" as the centerpiece in this overhaul not adding much gameplay on its own beyond new techs/civics, instead relying on all the modular content I and many others have created over the last five years of Civ VI.

Turning desert woods into a new savannah feature to allow custom resource spawn settings for it. Of course, the improvements then have to be fitted as well: Here's the new ancient-era Pasture for all desert tiles (savannah or not).

Many things can be said about Civ's relationship with colonial gaze, but why write 1000 words when a picture will do: Locations of modded world wonders (red) vs. modded natural wonders (green). Have not found any other aspect of the game expressing the divide this drastically.

The results make sense, imho the chronic 4X late-game problem goes back to a loss of the exploration component. Late-game units have exciting combat. "Numbers go brrrr" never stops. Expansion also slows down but often on player's own terms ("tall"). But exploration is just lost.

@PotatoMcWhiskey Gamers can be insufferable sometimes. The myth persists that Civ comes barebones for a main release because they dropped the ball *once* with Civ V in that regard. Civ VI was fairly "complete" on launch and had only cut the roughest features that indeed needed a rework first.

But wait, there's more! I actually have another district expansion coming up. For the Diplomatic Quarter, I'll try something new: after the three options for tier 1, you will only get a single building option for tier 2 at a time, depending on the tier 1 choice - like an upgrade.

I think I found a neat project that is easily split into smaller elements that I can work on whenever I have a bit of time: a second unique infrastructure for all civs, mostly unique buildings. A small glimpse at how assembling building models begins, with visual reference.

turns out making icons incl. portraits for units is hell and a lot more busywork than making icons for buildings. :/ But at least gameplay, text, and 3d art are all done for the Infantry Expansion.

Counterpoint: do try it out and report your issues to the creator. Modders aren't professional dev studios who can hire testers and QA. Rather, mods are co-creations with the community and people trying out mods *despite* them being janky is fundamental to fixing that very jank.
