How do we update democracy’s operating system? There are models in use around the world showing us how we can rebuild trust and get more courageous policy decisions by expanding who has a say and how. I’m in @GuardianAus today sharing some of the ideas in #GlimpsesOfUtopia
From Sydney, AU's deputy mayor @jessaroo: "The way we do politics today underestimates the capacity of the average citizen for big-picture thinking. They need to be empowered and informed, and we need to cast the net wider than the usual suspects." 🙌 https://t.co/67n7WQvS5N

I’ve spent my career championing innovation for a fairer world and I’ve never encountered an organisation like @RadxChange: at the intersection of creative & digital culture, democratic participation & market reform, all of which are critical for tackling systemic transformation.
She has precisely the mix of leadership experience, imaginative capacity, political savvy and academic curiosity and rigor that @RadxChange needs to scale into everything that our previous ED, @m_t_prewitt, laid the ground work for and I have hoped for for so long.

Thanks @glenweyl, I can’t believe my luck to be guiding @RadxChange in this next phase. I’m excited to expand its influence, scale the pluralistic solutions we need, and co-design projects with partners from social movements to web3 communities. If you’re curious, get in touch!
I couldn't be more thrilled to announced that @jessaroo will be joining @RadxChange as its new Executive Director. I met thousands of people around the world as we traveled for the @pluralitybook, yet no one impressed me as much as @jessaroo.

"After 10 years of pain and uncertainty, my family risks being torn apart by Labor’s deportation bill." Op-ed by Vashini Jayakumar - mother of 3, childcare worker and @HometoBilo campaigner. Labor's deportation bill has been delayed by six weeks. https://t.co/8vqsi4grie

If the bill passes, my husband – who fled war in Sri Lanka and is father to our three children – would be put in jail if he did not immediately leave Australia

Here's what I got up to at the Byron Writers Festival.... https://t.co/6wgRd9rt6P Join @jessaroo @jeffgoodell and @benroche for a chat about thinking systemically about the environment and moving away from consumer capitalism.

Much of the way we think about the economy and our environment is based on a linear model – a system of extraction, consumption and waste. But advocates for a "circular economy" approach argue it's...

Fantastic infographic. The #Stage3taxcuts are bad LNP policy from 2018: before the pandemic and the colossal spending that accompanied it, before the inflation, rental and cost of living crisis. It is so out of step it borders on immoral. How can the ALP continue to support this?
This graphic from @abcnews is brilliant. Top journalism! #Stage3taxcuts are insane & must be scrapped. It’s not about ‘tough choices’- it’s not another ‘good idea’.It’s immoral to give well off that much money - #RaisetheRate +single parent measure to 16yr

“NIMBYs come in a variety of forms, but the most confounding are those who call themselves progressive yet abuse laws conceived to protect the environment, or foster good government, to block desperately needed housing, driving up costs and fueling homelessness.”

“Building infrastructure such as roads, electrical grids and communications for fringe suburbs is up to four times more expensive than adapting infrastructure in established suburbs with growth capacity, according to Infrastructure Victoria.” Great piece @GuardianAus #YIMBY
We don’t build *anywhere near* enough 3-5 storey housing in Australia https://t.co/plneOSW40P

The YIMBYs are here. Article ft. @MaxHolleran, @klrhull, @jonobri, calling for a better, denser Melbourne. https://t.co/GdBZ8bmNm2

They are young, educated, have good jobs – and they think something is “really out of whack here” with the lack of affordable housing.

Delighted to hear this from new NSW Housing Minister @RoseBJackson Sydney’s density peaks 20km from the CBD. For fairness, more social & #affordablehousing must be within the well-served inner suburbs. I spoke to @RNDrive about the #YIMBY movement & enabling density done well.
“Get out of the way”: Nimbies given a blunt message by the new NSW Minister for Housing @RoseBJackson … we spoke to @jessaroo
