Programming is the only profession where you can literally create a world… and then get angry at it for doing exactly what you told it to do. Debugging is basically apologising to your past self in real time.

A good friend of mine's wife just published her debut novel! If you are looking for a "slow-burn psychological thriller that builds into fast-paced tension" check it out! Excellent reviews! Congrats to A.K. Franco!

Low-Code/No-Code tools are everywhere in 2025. They promise speed and empower “citizen developers.” But there’s the trade-off. Short-term wins vs. long-term complexity. Without engineering discipline, these systems often become the very bottlenecks they were meant to remove 🤷♂️

Just. Wow. As we went over Mexico and the U.S. this morning, I caught this sprite. Sprites are TLEs or Transient Luminous Events, that happen above the clouds and are triggered by intense electrical activity in the thunderstorms below. We have a great view above the clouds, so

Trump and Bondi knew that no judge was going to allow the grand-jury transcripts in Epstein's case to be unsealed on the grounds of some vague "public interest" claim. They just hoped that making the request for them to be unsealed would take public pressure off them and let them

Last weekend @jerrygulla and I went to see the battle of Okinawa re-enaction at the American Heritage Museum. They even had a plane from 1945 that was there. That museum is so cool - full of tanks. TANK TANK TANKS! You can ride a Sherman tank (which I did long ago!). So cool.

This genius continues to imply there are 200-year-old vampires collecting social security and obtaining loans. Quite possible we're living through the dumbest possible version of the year 2025. 😂 I'll go through a few facts, for anybody who doesn't believe in vampires. /1

An aspect of using AI for code I have not heard discussed much: it's going to generate code for old language features and frameworks long before it generates modern code for modern languages and libraries. AI can't create new code unless there's a large corpus of existing code.

JRuby 9.4 takes 17m33s to run the CRuby 3.1 test suite with 4649 tests containing 1850250 assertions. JRuby 10 takes 10m10s to run the CRuby 3.4 test suite with 4917 tests containing 1893276 assertions. Some of that is better startup, some is better performance. 👍

"'It’s absolutely preposterous that he would do this,”' said Nic Carter, founding partner at the crypto investment firm Castle Island Ventures who describes himself as an 'avowed and explicit' Trump supporter. 'They’re plumbing new depths of idiocy.'"

"MASS TRANSIT IS SUBSIDIZED!" Yes, it is. Nearly all of America's transportation systems are subsidized. One litmus test to determine if someone wants to talk about funding in good faith is to ask something like "is it the subsidy itself that you oppose or the amount?" Most

Most H1B workers are NOT seeing an average $100k salary, the body shops trafficking them are. The H1B market is cornered by visa body shops who apply for ~50% of the visas These body shops are headed by former hiring managers from Big Tech companies. They bring people to
People who say H-1B visa holders are “low-wage indentured servants” are misleading you or don’t know what they’re talking about. The H-1B has minimum education requirements & the average wage is well over $100,000—more than the vast majority of people. Shame on Bernie Sanders.
