I am proud of the OpEd letter this team has written. The work that is happening in public schools is amazing.

Together, we spoke against the harmful policies introduced by state legislators, which aim to vilify public schools.

It's bad enough these voucher bills would hurt Kansas students, but the tax unfairness of them is appalling. Forcing low - and middle-income taxpayers pay the freight for wealthy families to send their kids to exclusive private schools is peak `let them eat cake.' #ksleg #ksed

Say NO to vouchers. “This would amount to a taxpayer payout to the wealthiest Kansas families, with middle-class and poor families footing the bill. We do not need to bail out wealthy families while rural schools languish.” #ksleg #ksed

The #voucher crowd won’t point out that 65 counties have NO private options. #Ksleg-islators from those areas who support these bills are voting to send their taxpayer $ to wealthy folks in JoCo & the E. side of KS. Oh, & there are only 12 private HS in the ENTIRE STATE! #ksed

Illiteracy is damning. Ed Cook learned to read in his 90’s. No one should have to live like he did. #nevertoolate

Division vote on SB 83 vouchers, 61-59. The bill will need 63 votes on final action to be approved. Thank you to legislators who voted "No." This is bad for students & taxpayers & is un-Kansas in holding special ed funding hostage #ksleg #ksed

Willing to bet Idaho Republican legislators are probably as if not more conservative than Republican legislators in Kansas, and the Idaho GOP said no to vouchers. Once you get past the nice sounding "school choice" you see this is bad for Kansas students & taxpayers #ksleg #ksed

All moral/ethical concerns aside...what I can't understand is how we've had to fight to adequately fund public ed. for so long, but now that ESAs/"scholarships"/vouchers are popular idea, those supporting them aren't concerned with the added costs of such programs. #ksed #ksleg
