This has always been the fundamental flaw of the draft lottery. If the goal was to de-incentivize tanking, then it’s a failure. Instead, bad teams have to tank harder now to lock in their floor 39 & 34 win teams getting 1st & 2nd while 17 & 18 win teams fall to 5th & 6th? Broken
A part of me believes the lottery is the reason teams get stuck at the bottom for several years at a time. If you keep giving the second-worst team the No. 6 pick over and over again, they're not going to improve as quickly as they would if they just got a star the first time.

We've really lost the plot with the lottery. The league is so fixated on limiting tanking that it has forgotten that the entire purpose of a reverse record-order draft is to strengthen the weakest teams. This bizarre half-measure accomplishes nothing. Everyone still tanks.
If the Wizards were able to get Dylan Harper all of the PG issues would be solved for the foreseeable future. Wizards got absolutely screwed in the lottery man smfh.
