I’d love to see a lot less of Shaq hating on teams he doesn’t watch and a lot more of @JohnWall getting into the specifics of defensive schemes and matchup advantages. This kind of analysis is how you solve the NBA’s ongoing media negativity epidemic.

If the Wizards get Flagg, then we need a rebrand. At least new jerseys for the first time in 15 years. @WashWizards.

While the NBA mediascape is currently undergoing a negativity epidemic, I wanna take a moment to shoutout @UsherNBA for covering basketball the way most fans want it to be covered:. Highlighting all the dope action around the league with no agendas or narratives — just hoops.

1 ping pong ball away from Zion. 1 ping pong ball away from Wemby. 1 ping pong ball away from Flagg. #SoWizards.
The Mavericks won the 2025 NBA Draft lottery with the ping pong ball combination of 10-14-11-7. - The Blazers would have won if the last ball had been 6. - The Wizards would have won if the last ball had been 1.

Nothing would make me happier than seeing John Wall’s analyst career take off
I'm really enjoying John Wall on NBATV. You can tell he's watching a lot of games. Picks up on and shares a lot of smaller, but important details about each team. He's getting more and more comfortable every show too. Good to see Wall finding post-playing success!.

@Benjamminhere That would mean Carmelo was never the Knicks franchise player, McGrady was never one for Houston or Orlando, and Chris Paul was never one for NO and LA. Seems like a weirdly arbitrary bar to apply to a 1st overall pick that was the face of the franchise for nearly a decade.

Guys, I have a confession…. I think I’m in love with @UsherNBA . These are FOUR different Wizards highlights in just the last week! You can’t find this kind of love for our squad on any national media outlet. There’s great hoops happening all over the league, you just gotta look

Maaaaaaaan… that’s my guy. This is the player I’ve always thought Deni could be at his peak. In March, he’s averaging 23.7p/10.1r/5.6a on great efficiency 53/50/84. His 5th game scoring 30 points or more this year.
Incredible night from Deni Avdija in Portland's 4th straight win!. 💪 36 PTS.💪 8 REB.💪 7 AST.💪 3 STL.💪 4 3PM

@therichlane @JohnWall TNT is basic cable, NBA TV isn’t. Nobody is looking to Shaq for serious analysis, but he’s still what national NBA audiences are most frequently subjected to. People are free to watch what they want, but god forbid we raise the bar above knowing who is the Pistons head coach.

Actually, having an ex-Wizards player on your roster is a cheat code to lock up a trip to the Finals. EVERYBODY should be trying to make trades with Washington. Shit, Corey Kispert might just be your ticket to a ring! All for the low, low price of just one first-round pick!

I was gonna say something uncouth, but who am I to argue with the guy that averaged 7/2/2 in 24mpg with DC? He knows EXACTLY what it takes to not be a solid piece in Washington.
"[Cooper Flagg] Can't End Up In DC. He Can't. I Would Be So Mad If He Went To DC Man". "I Don't Think They Have Any Solid Pieces Around [Flagg], Other Than The Exception Of Alex Sarr". Crazy Disrespect From Austin Rivers 😒

@SWATNative @Hawks_Thoughts @JohnWall Character limit and Shaq has had the more egregious recent missteps, but I do have a bit of a soft spot for Chuck because he owns his misses and takes it in stride — Shaq just comes off as big baby with an even bigger ego.

Man… shoutout to Will Dawkins & Michael Winger. They built this shit from Bradley Beal’s NTC supermax and arguably one of the most asset-poor situations in the NBA. Acquiring all this young talent in just under 2 years is nothing short of remarkable. I finally have hope again.

Replaced a ball-dominant chucker that wasn’t buying in with an off-ball wing and a former DPOY. Smart & Middleton have embraced their role as vets w/ championship exp. When Kuzma stopped taking that role seriously, he dropped from mentor to just another guy with a ring.
The Wizards are now 4-3 with Marcus Smart and Khris Middleton in the lineup. Since their debut on Feb. 21, the Wizards are tied for 7th in the NBA in defensive rating.

The good: .• Wall & Beal making the All-Star team in ‘18.• John’s ‘16-‘17 season.• Brad averaging 30+ in B2B seasons.• ECSF Game 6 vs. Boston. The bad:.• The front office was utterly incapable of putting together a decent bench. • The end of their tenure in DC. The funny:

This feels a little hyperbolic. Wizards are actually cooking up something decent for a change and while missing out on the chance to draft Flagg would be disappointing, it would be far from a “disaster”. Stay low and build.
Anything less that the Wizards getting the #1 pick is a disaster.

This is the exact type of mentality that has been lacking around this franchise for so long. If you take a second to look beyond the record, you’ll find that a new culture has started to take root within Washington’s locker room. #ForTheDistrict.
Rookie AJ Johnson already has displayed some intriguing abilities during his brief time with the Wizards. After tonight's game, he said: "With the grind that I'm about to have this summer and stuff like that, I feel like I'm going to come back different.".

If you're a Wizards fan, you NEED to listen to this answer from Bub Carrington about when the team's rebuild comes to fruition one day. So much passion & drive in the talented rookie's voice. What Will Dawkins is building here has serious potential. @WashWizards @DCNewsNow

All the talk about his last few months being a hot streak needs to be put to rest; Deni has definitively taken another step in his development and leveled up before he’ll start entering his prime. The Knicks had no answer for him in the first half.

And people tried to tell me he’d only ever be a 14ppg player….
Deni Avdija throughout the 2024-25’ season: . ▫️16.9 PPG.▫️7.3 RPG.▫️3.9 APG.▫️1.0 STLPG. Last 20 games: . ▫️23.3 PPG.▫️9.7 RPG.▫️5.2 APG.▫️1.0 STLPG. Deni has definitely found his rhythm here in RipCity and i’m so happy he’s a Blazer! ❤️🖤

Currently imagining a player with Alex Sarr’s physical tools and Marcus Smart’s mentality
Marcus Smart says he and Alex Sarr are "working" on Sarr's mentality on the floor. "Once he fully embraces [. ] how special he can be, and when he puts his mind to it, he can be a great defender. That's what we're working on, getting that consistency.".

Exactly how it should be. I gotta give props to JP though — his first year in DC was a mess but he never complained or made excuses; he just blocked out the noise, got back to work, and came into this year with a purpose. I have nitpicks for the player, but I respect the person.
Interesting quote from Poole here:. “D.C. as a city…they’re not like, open arms welcoming you right away. It’s kinda like, ‘Alright, let’s see who he is, what he does. He almost has to give us a reason to cheer for him.’ I think that this year I was able to do that.”.

@GregFinberg This only reinforces my long held belief that hardly anyone pays attention to the Wizards. It’s not even the Sarr or Bub ranking — there’s virtually no justification for Kyshawn being below Quentin Post, Adem Bona, and Ajay Mitchell.

AJ is constantly beating his man and getting two feet in the paint. A young PG with his athletic profile that can get consistent penetration is not the kind of player you just throw into a trade; especially for Kyle Kuzma. Thank you, Milwaukee.
6'5" AJ Johnson with an alley-oop poster over 7-foot Walker Kessler. Remember when Doc Rivers said the Kuzma-Middleton trade "took a while" to process because they liked this kid so much?

Wizards will select at 18th overall in the draft. Washington acquired that pick from Memphis at the deadline in the Marcus Smart trade — the Grizzlies would then drop from 2nd to 8th in the Western Conference standings. Quite literally the best case scenario for Washington.
Five ties among teams with identical regular-season records were broken today through random drawings to determine the order of selection for NBA Draft 2025 presented by State Farm.

Glenn Consor talking about Alex Sarr’s infamous 0-15 Summer League game:. “I had people at my health club coming up to me saying ‘Really man? 2nd overall pick?’. You know my response? ‘What do you do for a living? You an accountant?’”. 🗣️TALK THAT SHIT @glennconsor.

Whaattt?!! I didn’t know John Wall’s now doing studio for NBA TV. Great role for him, he was always the best talker & the guy you go for insight in the #Wizards locker room. And is it me or is John looking younger these days?

@therichlane @JohnWall It’s on both of them. They’ve enabled the behavior, but Shaq is just lazy. He’ll watch a young player drop 40+ and the first thing you’ll hear is “Not enough Ernie, I need more”. Idk man, it’s just gotten old. And this is coming from a guy who grew up watching/loving the TNT crew.

Lotta if’s here but if:. a) WAS doesn’t land a top 3 pick in this draft.b) Bub Carrington doesn’t pan out.or c) the picks they got back for Deni don’t pan out (2029 1st + two 2nds). I think the Wizards will come to regret trading him. 4yr/$54m averaging 19.6/8.1/4.6 since January.
Ballhandling wings change the fabric of a team, and that’s exactly why Portland was comfortable giving away Pick 14 for Deni Avdija. This cross court skip pass straight into the shooting pocket exemplifies that.

I’m gonna start asking Kyshawn George questions about my portfolio because if there is one thing this kid understands, it’s STOCKS. George is averaging 3 stocks per game since February (1.6 BPG, 1.4 SPG). 4 steals and a block in the win against Denver tonight. #ForTheDistrict.

Are you dumb? Detroit already got their top 3 pick, Cade went a 1st overall. Playoff caliber rosters leapfrogging the most talent devoid rosters in the draft is bad for the NBA and I bet my house Rob would feel differently if the Knicks dropped from 1 to 5 and lost out on Flagg.
A lot of complaining about the Draft Lottery structure 24 hours later, specifically around bad teams not being able to keep up unless they get a Top 3 pick. That argument is null and void after this Pistons kickass '24-'25 campaign. Historic futility a season ago, complete.
