Did you attend a state fair this summer? Geographers discuss how the Minnesota State Fair is proof that #walkable, #mixed-use urban spaces with plenty of public amenities are successful — and quite popular.

The Fair is a theme park, not a city — but it offers nuggets of urban-planning wisdom.

Loved this story on the lessons the the State Fair could teach us about making our city great: mix up all kinds of different uses in a neighborhood to activate the street, offer public spaces to rest, and get pedestrians away from cars! https://t.co/ThMzterNtW

First day attendance at the Minnesota State Fair was 106,327. That's down from last year (121,478), way higher than 2021 (61,983). The record was set in 2019 (133,326), a year that holds six records as well as the record for most-attended year overall.

As a person who is pretty familiar with receiving veto letters from Mayor Frey, let me remind you: In his ~6 years as Mayor, Jacob Frey has vetoed 9 Council actions. Of these, all were authored by Councilmembers who represent Southsiders. 7 were authored by people of color.

These dresses certainly aren't the first Native cultural items to be auctioned off — nor will they be the last, sadly. So here's what you should do if you come across one: Help get it back to where it belongs! It's not that difficult, especially in MN. https://t.co/rc6RniusU7

When Arlene's storage unit was robbed in 2015, she thought she'd never see her ceremonial jingle dresses again. In February, they showed up in an online auction — and, almost $900 later, she got them back. But the story gets a little more complicated... https://t.co/rc6RniusU7

Update: @PioneerPress did not carry Dilbert, so no need to drop, per the paper's editor. "I would have dumped him for this, though," he added in an email.
