Excited to have my first-author work from my PhD published! Huge thanks to @natstann and @purvislab for mentoring me on this work. Natalie’s class renewed my love of graphs from college and inspired me to combine it with machine learning and scRNA-seq, and the rest is history.
An article published in #BMCBioInformatics presents Cellograph: a semi-supervised framework that uses graph neural networks to quantify the effects of perturbations at single-cell granularity. https://t.co/gt72SDd79f

Very honored to have received this award! Special thanks to my co-authors for getting this project to its current stage and to @sanders_lab for encouraging me to submit an abstract for the conference!
Meanwhile, in Berlin, Jamshaid just won the prize for Best Poster at the Innovations in Single Cell Omics Symposium. Congratulations, Jamshaid! @jamshaid_shahir @MDC_Berlin

As I reflect on my grad school experience during Carolina's day of giving, I'm very grateful to one of my professors @natstann for her mentorship this past year, which resulted in me submitting my first first-author paper! #UNCGradStudents @UNC_GradSchool

Back to writing new Medium articles this year with another in the works! #ChatGPT
ChatGPT is designed to generate text, of course — not visual media. Jamshaid Shahir tries to push the chatbot to its limits to see if it can produce code that corresponds to meaningful images.

Thanks to @epoindexter28 for a beautifully written article!
We love to hear about young researchers! 👩🔬👨🔬 Here's a feature on @jamshaid_shahir, a PhD candidate at @purvislab in @UNC, who is studying the intricacies of how #ESCs 🧫 divide and the ramifications for what cells they turn into. https://t.co/QXz42hxXCz

Happy Birthday to civil rights hero #RubyBridges! In 1960, at six years old, Ruby became the first student to integrate an elementary school in the South. Today, we celebrate her courage. 💙 #BeProHuman

Webb has taken its first image of an exoplanet! This image shows the exoplanet HIP 65426 b in different bands of infrared light and demonstrates how #Webb’s powerful instruments can easily capture worlds beyond our solar system. Learn more here: https://t.co/evTXpH9gh0

Really great thread breaking down diffusion for image generation
Diffusion models like #DALLE and #StableDiffusion are state of the art for image generation, yet our understanding of them is in its infancy. This thread introduces the basics of how diffusion models work, how we understand them, and why I think this understanding is broken.🧵

BREAKING: White House issues new policy that will require, by 2026, all federally-funded research results to be freely available to public without delay, ending longstanding ability of journals to paywall results for up to 1 year. Coverage coming on @ScienceInsider.

Our paper is finally out! After 10 years of model building we generate complete embryoids from three types of stem cells - they develop heart, brain structures and more. We show the first proof of concept knocking out a gene required for neurodevelopment

"It's a very strange way to show you respect me...to say you'll never disagree with [me]. In fact, what you're treating me like implicitly is a petulant child who can't be pushed back against... I don't see how that points a path forward at all." - @coldxman on #RobinDiAngelo

Polyrhythm is the simultaneous use of two or more rhythms. Tapping exercises with the metronome are important to master the most basic of polyrhythms. While apparently easy, it's something that requires huge coordination [source: https://t.co/Khkc7AWBhb]
