Same here in Australia. The sad thing for me is Public golf has been neglected in most cases from the time they were built little has gone into upgrading vital infrastructure like irrigation & drainage. Management has been tendered. Councils that invested have only seen 👍

A big part of the issue the game has always had There is no official pathway in but rather existing golfers teaching their family and friends their version Makes it very hard for people from non golfing to break in governing bodies have no say what goes on at courses
Golf has outgrown the onboarding infrastructure set down hundreds of years ago. The game was once passed from father to son. Through generations. No longer. Internet + covid + short form content has eroded hundreds of years of etiquette in a fraction of the time.
