The heather’s in full bloom and the course has come to life. There are few more beautiful places to play golf, walk the dog, or ride your horse than the common in late August.

The 7th green is currently framed by acres of purple heather — but even without it in bloom, as seen here in July, it holds its own. A standout hole year-round.

A bird’s-eye view of the 8th and 5th greens, linked by a shared stretch of short grass that acts as both a run-off protecting back pins and a beautifully manicured space that ties the holes together, enhancing the flow of the round.

Our bunkerless 18th, with its deep gully guarding the green, demands solid ball striking right to the final shot — especially when the course is playing firm and fast, just as a heathland should, and just as it has all summer.

One of the last holes to be renovated, the 14th now features bunkers in keeping with the rest of the course — working in unison with the green site, expertly revived by @golfarchitects

It won’t be long now — the heather’s nearly in bloom, and soon our vast heathland will be a sea of purple, framing ribbons of green fairway. Undoubtedly the course at its most stunning.
