On a mission to reduce or remove 150 million tonnes of climate pollution by 2030.

It was the privilege of my lifetime to serve for ten years as a Member of Parliament, nine as Green Party Co-leader and six as a Minister of the Crown. Thank you for all your support. ICYMI, this is my valedictory statement to Parliament on 1st May: https://t.co/ARIWhDH4xY

Creating a Rangitāhua Kermadec Ocean Sanctuary is critical to our efforts to halt nature loss and mitigate climate change - the twin crises of our time. It’s the latest affront in the Govt’s shameful and shortsighted war on nature. #waronnature #nzpol

Rod Oram was one of the most decent, committed people I’ve ever met. I’m devastated for his wife, Lynn, and their family. He’s a huge loss to journalism and to the natural world he believed so strongly we are a part of and depend on.

Congratulations @_chloeswarbrick! There is no one I would rather replace me as @NZGreens Co-leader. Ever since we met for a coffee after her mayoral campaign in 2016 she has struck me as a remarkable leader with an extraordinary belief in the power of people to make a difference.

⚠️ A State of Local Emergency has been declared for Christchurch City and Selwyn District due to the fire in the Port Hills. There is an evacuation centre at Te Hapua Halswell Library and the Lincoln Community Centre. Stay safe, stay away, and follow official advice.

The new govt's plan to reopen oil and gas exploration is one of the most irresponsible things they could do in a climate crisis. 10,400 people agree. Join them ⬇️ We need at least 15,000 of you so we can send a clear message to the new PM. https://t.co/G9YFLr33Oz

We've just sped past 4,000 signatures on our petition to save the oil & gas ban in Aotearoa, help us get to 5,000! Join us and tell the new Prime Minister that fossil fuels can have no place in our future. https://t.co/G9YFLr33Oz

The Green Party has done what no support party in NZ's MMP history has ever done - come out of Govt stronger than when we came in. I can't wait to get stuck in with our largest ever caucus. 15 Green MPs who will hold the incoming Govt to account every single day.

I am so proud of our Green team. No small party had *ever* increased its vote after being in Govt. We’ve done it twice! We’re on track for three electorate seats & at least 14 Green MPs. Our new Green caucus will be a strong opposition & fight every day for people & planet.

Just so we’re really clear, again, no party leader can decide to rule in or out policies, like a wealth tax. You decide. If you want a fairer tax system, vote for it. Party vote Green. ✅

For your sharing purposes here’s @jamespeshaw explaining in less than 25 seconds why you should party vote Green this year. 🤝✅

2020: Emissions ⬇️ 2021: Emissions ⬇️ 2022: Emissions ⬇️ I am proud of what we've achieved, but it is all under threat from a Nat/ACT/NZFirst coalition. It is only with more Green MPs at the Cabinet table that we will confront the climate crisis with the urgency it demands.

“Getting people out of cars and electrifying the vehicles that remain won’t only slash greenhouse gas emissions, it could also prolong the lives of 2200 people each year.” https://t.co/HN4pTtYi9q

Special Report: Air pollution is behind one in every 10 deaths in New Zealand, shattering our self-perception as a clean, green nation. What are we going to do about it?

Here @marcdaalder essentially explains why National’s plan to ditch the Clean Car Discount is so bonkers. Not only is the CCD the most successful climate policy *ever* in NZ, it also means cleaner air, & saves people $$. It’s as close to an ideal govt investment as you can get.
