Dental for All published a new report today telling the stories of 10 people struggling in NZ's privatised dental system. It shows the $1000 WINZ dental grant is not fit for purpose,+makes the case for universal, free, Te Tiriti-consistent oral healthcare:

We’re backing Daman and other people without a regularised immigration status so they can remain in their communities. Two things you can do to help: - Email Chris Penk/Erica Stanford - Sign the petition by the Migrant Workers Association (link in reply) https://t.co/CxonbrZzrQ

Submissions for Bill #3 of the week, the Social Security Amendment Act Bill, close tonight. This Bill will enable cruel and ineffective sanctions against beneficiaries. It includes money management cards and forced community work experience, and a 26 week limit on JobSeeker.

Policies like compulsory money management have failed in Australia. Community work experience is basically a reheated “work for the dole” that didn’t work in the 90’s and won’t work now. But I have a feeling the Govt knows they’re disregarding the evidence, cruelty is the point.

People receiving income support are under attack. The introduction of failed policies like compulsory money management and community work experience by this Govt will lead to more hardship. If you have time to make a submission we prepared a handy guide: https://t.co/hlip2U9pca

1/ VICTORY We're so happy for and proud of the Vasquez family who were forced to advocate relentlessly over nine years for their residency due to our ableist immigration requirements. The road is not an easy one. https://t.co/3j6HfVF8qh

Carolina Vasquez moved to NZ from Chile to give her children a better quality of life. But her daughter's disability meant her visa applications were rejected, resulting in an expensive fight to stay.

Before the election, the Greens moved an amendment to the Therapeutic Products Act to ban direct to consumer prescription drug advertisements - but Labour and ACT voted it down.

Kudos to my colleague Francisco Hernandez for uncovering the huge hypocrisy happening in the Ministry of Regulations. Public servants deserve good pay and conditions, but the Govt is cutting thousands of jobs while giving a its pet ministries big salaries https://t.co/cVo5Pofcn3

These are all political choices, including keeping benefits below the poverty line. We will repeal these violent policies that will only increase hardship and introduce an Income Guarantee to lift all families out of poverty so people can also find employment on their terms.

The Govt quietly set new child poverty reduction targets that will see 17,000 more children in material hardship and overall poverty reduction weakened. They were hoping no one would notice. Poverty is a political choice. Liveable incomes now! https://t.co/IBRrF7dZrn

It’s a sad day because Keith Locke was a dedicated human rights leader who stood with marginalised peoples from across the world, his loss is a moment to stop and honour a proud legacy from an utterly determined social justice spirit

This Govt is taking us backwards by ditching the subsidy which would've ensured all disabled ppl can be paid a min wage along w/ everyone else - the entire point of a MINIMUM is it's the floor w/o any exceptions. Appreciate @RMarchNZ advocacy here
