Interesting set of questions at the interface of AI and neuroscience, and a fantastic cast of scientists to offer their ideas. Looks like another great transmitter article!.

How can we make progress in developing a general model of neural computation rather than a series of disjointed models tied to specific experimental circumstances, ask @evadyer and Blake Richards @tyrell_turing in the latest entry in our NeuroAI series.

Heading to #COSYNE2025?.Don't miss our latest work, led by Jack Bowler, on curriculum learning! We've uncovered how recurrent networks in the entorhinal cortex and RNNs develop specific dynamical mechanisms for abstract learning, depending on how they are trained. Poster #1-058

Just spent 30 hours reviewing for an NIH study section set for Thurs—now postponed indefinitely. 20 other scientists did the same X multiple sections. Huge waste of time, resources, and funding, with real costs for science and economy. @realDonaldTrump admin is bad for everyone.

New study from our lab, in collab with @erlichlab . We developed novel frameworks to study multi-agent decision-making in mice. Mice flexibly shift their value preference under social competition, by integrating real-time self and opponent information!.

This would cripple biomedical research at public institutions like @UUtah, threatening life-saving treatments for cancer, Alzheimers, and Parkinsons. I urge our representatives to act now to protect the funding that makes this research possible. @CurtisUT @GovCox @CelesteMaloyUT.

Last year, $9B of the $35B that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) granted for research was used for administrative overhead, what is known as “indirect costs.” Today, NIH lowered the maximum indirect cost rate research institutions can charge the government to 15%, above
