I'm not 100% sold on Maresca but Poch's CFC didn't do the basics of winning headers. I think we've used data to make signings but lack an understanding of what data is necessary to build a competitive team. There's 18 talented footballers, but they lack character in my opinion

This does feel very true. To be honest against T6 sides I fully expect and almost want this to ensure control. But when you're playing bottom half teams it feels like Maresca can take the handbrake off considerably more and create dangerous transitions.

📊🔻Chelsea’s direct speed of 1.58 metres per second, a metric that looks at the speed at which a team move the ball towards the opponents' goal, is the lowest in the Premier League. [PL]

I'm starting to think maybe a solution for us is 433 with James given freedom and play Palmer LW and Estevao/Pedro Neto RW for a while. Lavia, Enzo and Caicedo in the middle. Logic being Estevao and Palmer would have more freedom to turn the ball over with 3 CM's

Im genuinely surprised at this. Although we are essentially a T4/6 side right now so the dips in form are pretty normal. Progression was to stop the inconsistencies but that's not really happened this year so far

I get we have Reece, Cucurella and Enzo. None of them have won a big league. They've been good in tournaments which is relevant but not enough. We still lack consistency over 38 games l.maybe that comes with time, but not when you replace 8 players every year for younger ones

People are saying he's wrong and citing Tosin. Tosin is a career mid-table f*cking Fulham level CB. He's saying you need a Bastoni who has played in a CL final and won a T5 league. This team does lacks experience, Tosin has no relevant experience just age

"I just think they'd be better with more experience within the team." 🧠 Stephen Warnock believes Chelsea will hit "a stumbling block" where their lack of experience may show.

Perfect opinion. I'm tired of Chelsea winning twice and getting told 'we knew we were right' by newspapers and blue ticks that are obviously paid indirectly. You've spent ÂŁ1.5Bn and not challenged for a league and don't have a FoS sponsor so it's hardly going perfectly

I’m not here to pick fights or told you so. I want wants best for my club and I can visually see with my own eyes that we’ve not been good enough this season. If people want to use delusion to think we’re on the better trajectory than last season then we aren’t going to progress.

Ideally you want better than Guiu & JP but in my opinion Cucurella as a 5'9 LB ghosting into the box vs a CF seems like the CF would make more sense. With everyone fit I'd play Palmer for Lavia and Delap for Joao Pedro for two genuine strikers

In games like this, I would want to be able to play two 9's - just play a 352 with no wingbacks. We clearly had the plan of put crosses in the box, so having two strikers is really the only way you can create situations where the CB's are uncomfortable

As expected from the line-ups, Sunderland are defending deep in their 5-4-1 block. However, there are moments where they are tyring to be aggressive. The press is triggered by the wingers, from what I've noticed, where they curve the run to block passes into the pocket players

Honestly, this is what I was worried about before the CWC. Jackson is a T4/6 starting striker. Delap was always a gamble and JP isn't a number 9 which pretty much everyone said. Crazy we've got 7 CB's on the books and 1 number 9.

2 wins in 7 against ultra low blocks. If we have 65-70% of the ball for the first 20 minutes Maresca can say let's turn this into a basketball game. We struggle to create because its so slow (against specific teams) so why not change it up and back our quality

Since Enzo Maresca took over, there have been 7 PL Chelsea games where his side have kept 65%+ possession. They've won only 2 of those. We currently have 70%.

We don't shout about this enough as Chelsea fans. That year 2005 was the best XI of all time in the PL and was competing with the best ever Arsenal team and finished 20 points ahead of them

Lots of Liverpool fans wished him well when he left - they presumed retirement. It's also a senior head with winning credentials that Winstanley/Stewart haven't got.
