Creativity and fluency in planning an outline is the most important part of writing an essay. The rest is producing prose – which is also a significant skill – but to my mind being able elaborate an outline in response to a question is the core humanities achievement.

If you encourage students to use AI to write an outline, they will use it to write the paper. Even if they don't, you have short-circuited the learning process from the jump. Reading and organizing info is foundational for higher levels of thinking. The process is the point.

This Sunday we are addressing the question of evil and suffering: How can I believe in a good God with so much evil and suffering in our world? If you’ve ever struggled with this question you should join us this Sunday at 9 or 10:30.
