Good, up-to-date 21st Century 'Descartes was a Christian philosopher, and if you ignore that you misunderstand him' tone here.
The memorial to Rene Descartes in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris (buried here, apart from his skull). It ends . NVNC.VERITATIS.QVAM VNICE COLVIT.CONSPECTV.FRVITVR. Now he enjoys the vision of that truth which he so singally revered.

I've written about different perspectives on what counts as supernatural or not in Christian theology.
I was so pleased to be asked to contribute to this edition of @Plough on the theme of The Supernatural.

Creativity and fluency in planning an outline is the most important part of writing an essay. The rest is producing prose – which is also a significant skill – but to my mind being able elaborate an outline in response to a question is the core humanities achievement.
If you encourage students to use AI to write an outline, they will use it to write the paper. Even if they don't, you have short-circuited the learning process from the jump. Reading and organizing info is foundational for higher levels of thinking. The process is the point.

At Oxford, for instance, there is @keenoxford. (I'm a patron.) As a DPhil student, I worked on the wards Sobel House hospice. It changed the course of my life.

A characteristically insightful piece from @Docstockk. I'd also encourage university students to think about volunteering for an hour or two each week at some charitable activity. It's great for meeting people, a change of scene, and a bit of perspective.
