Just missing April fool's, here is something that is no laughing matter:.In @NatureMicrobiol, we describe how a prophage avoids autoimmunity from its own defence systems.

🚨🫴Final PhD work is out 🧬 Cam1, a ligand-activated transmembrane pore, is associated with type III CRISPR systems and depolarises the host membrane during infection. Proud of @ChristianF_Baca 🫡and co-authors for doing the heavy lifting for a beautiful (I’m biased) story 🫴🚨.
Excited to share my first work in the @MarraffiniLab, now online @Nature ! We show that type III CRISPR utilizes a transmembrane effector, which we call Cam1, to provide anti-phage immunity! Synopsis 🧵:.

Interesting and important study 👏.

The first draft you send to your supervisor.
In 1731 King Frederick I of Sweden was gifted a lion, one of the first lions in Scandinavia. When the lion died shortly after, it was given to a taxidermist and this was the end product. The taxidermist and the museum keepers had never actually seen a lion before, and did not
