Same, but the Woodfield Mall parking lot at Christmas when I worked at the Cheesecake Factory. Did get one 'bitch' in purple lipstick on my Saturn for doing a little parking improv.
I’m so glad I went to so many concerts at Alpine Valley in the 90s so I can navigate the Trader Joes’s parking lot without breaking a sweat on a Tuesday at 6:03 pm

Happy New Year, folks. We've got six incredible books coming your way over the next 12 months, starting with @enaselimo's translation of Underground Barbie by Maša Kolanović, which is out on January 28. And then we'll jump into 2026 with this remarkable novel. ARCs in April!

Currently reading: finally got round to Hristo Karastoyanov's bold, fascinating evocation of Bulgaria's turbulent 1920s centred on real-life expressionist poet Geo Milev & anarchist Georgi Sheytanov - murdered by far-right death squads in 1925. Trans @izidora for @open_letter

As someone who has lived in both NYC (7 yrs in Brooklyn) and Chicago (cumulative total of 21 years, all south side) I am sorry to say that if you find Chicago “miserable” it’s a skill issue
Hi, I’m a NYer who lived in Chicago for 2 yrs. It has its charms but I found it mostly miserable: the winters, the measurably worse violent crime, the exceptional scale of segregation, the vast transit gaps, the monotonous suburban sprawl into farmland. It’s cheaper for a reason.

I'm in a really bad place right now. Not mentally, I'm just at Ashland/Elston/Armitage.
