From art prints to reactive installations to music, his practice stays rooted in one idea: let the tools reveal what our senses can’t, then finesse it by hand: human + machine in concert.

In “People,” he trained pix2pix on silhouettes vs. street photos so the network dreams whole city scenes from mere outlines- an early proof that GANs could imagine worlds.

He codes his own models & pipelines, insisting AI is “an augmentative tool, never the driver.” That intent-first mindset shapes every creation.

Töyrylä is a true polymath: engineer, historian, musician, and visual artist. He's worked with neural tools since 2015, long before most of us knew what GANs were 🤯

Today I'm beyond grateful to add 𝙋𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚, 2016 by Hannu Töyrylä @htoyryla to the collection. A hauntingly nostalgic audiovisual artwork, it was trained with pix2pix only weeks after the conditional-GAN was released. A living time capsule of early AI art history.
