I spent a lot of my life thinking certain things I experienced weren’t a big deal and barely impacted me. I remember eventually coming to the realisation that those things were actually a huge deal and I was very affected by them. Realising I suppressed certain things was a trip.

I still remember that solo in Blak Whyte Gray @BoyBlueEnt. A short moment @DicksonMbi completely took charge of with crisp, impeccable storytelling & technique. I knew the levels from previous works & Fiya House, but this solidified it for me. Incredible artist. Well deserved ✨

At times like this, when all semblance of keeping it together dissipates, I'm thankful for literature and music that can speak to the anxiety, loss, brokenness, softness, and revival. @azemezi & Raleigh Ritchie (@jacobanderson) are keeping me alive right now

There’s an entire market in the music industry for the “discovery” and reissuing of albums by African and other non-western artists to western audiences under the guise of “you’ve never heard of this incredible artist before” and like, we often have?
Prince Nico Mbarga’s “Sweet Mother” has sold more copies than “Macarena.” And even The Beatles’ “I Want to Hold Your Hand”. But chances are, especially if you’re not Nigerian, you’ve never heard of him. Until now. His rollercoaster-of-a-life story:

Oh, gal dem. I am, ofc, bereft. But I also just have to say thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. gal-dem emerged when I & so many women of colour were desperate for our own space. Its positive impact is incalculable. Forever grateful to have come of age with this magazine
We are incredibly sad to announce that gal-dem is closing. Several factors that have contributed to this difficult decision, including numerous challenges with running a small, mission-driven, independent media company. We’ve shared more here

Nothing I appreciate more than clocking a work colleague on the train who waves and goes about their business. Neither of us tryna force a conversation for the 20mins journey left (not an issue if we are close though) 😅

"My guess is that when queer and trans individuals choose not to abide by the rigid rules of cisheterosexuality, it throws into relief just how many people are unhappy adherents to behavioural norms thrusted upon them."

I don’t understand what this looks like, is everyone going to start chopping the cost of things back to 2020 prices and are we going to get pay rises?
The Governor of the Bank of England has said the cost of living crisis should start to ease within weeks. https://t.co/pMYhZqDz5E

'Casual racism' 'unconscious racism' any more terms out there to make racism not sound serious??? I can't stand these terms that imply that there are levels of racism that are ok for victims to receive

When we think about stigma from the Black community towards therapy, I wonder if what we really mean is that Eurocentric therapy is frowned upon by the Black community because it doesn't touch/heal/speak to their spirit and soul the way it should. Let's locate the issue correctly
Criminalisation, racism and stigma involving masculine norms often leaves a lot of black men suffering in silence ✍️🏽🤎 #mentalhealth #blackmentalhealth #racism #psychology
