Our findings shed light on how trophic ecology and PFAS sources in the South Atlantic influence exposure and accumulation in seabird liver tissue; highlighting the importance of biomonitoring in remote regions.

In this study, we investigated PFAS contamination in three species of sub-Antarctic seabirds. We found evidence of bioaccumulation and long-range transport of 22 legacy and replacement PFAS compounds, including short-chain PFAAs and PFECAs.

@imogenrbailes, Lucy Hart, Ola Dosunmu β all PhD students based @LancsUniLec β collaborated with PhD students at other institutions associated with the ECORISC CDT to submit evidence as a part of a parliamentary inquiry into the human impact on the environment in Antarctica.

Our written evidence setting out the state of chemical pollution and interactions with climate change in Antarctica has been published by the EAC! It was a pleasure to lead on this with my fellow ECORISC PhDs.
Some of us at @ECORISC_CDT have contributed to the call for evidence from The Environmental Audit Committee, exploring the effects of climate change in Antarctica, and the role that UK plays in this. Have a read:

Today, I joined over 50 scientific experts to ask the UK Government to take a more ambitious approach to regulating #PFAS - the forever chemicals - than the previous government. Read the letter hereΒ β‘οΈΒ Β https://t.co/XST3487twD

More than 50 scientists have written to ministers calling for tougher regulation of a group of substances known as PFAS.

Itβs been a great experience so far, working with a lovely team and getting to speak to many external stakeholders. Last week I had the pleasure of attending Farnborough International Airshow which was beyond cool.

Iβve been up to something very different to my PhD for the last couple of months. In June I started a 3-month long internship with @DefraGovUK , investigating the potential impacts on the marine environment from rocket launch activity π π§΅below
