In today's @washingtonpost, @GovCox and I argue that America is overdue for a moral / spiritual awakening, as we round out our first quarter-millenium as a nation. https://t.co/60u53CrfAy @SpencerJCox @PostOpinions

.@ianmarcuscorbin and @SpencerJCox on America's moral drift: "This drift amounts to a civilizational crisis of agency, interwoven with an epidemic of addiction. Addressing this crisis will require the nation...to reimagine the bounds of public life." https://t.co/hL2SRMptP5

This is such an important articulation of how addiction across our economy, facilitated by algorithms that prey on our worst impulses, is an outright abdication of moral responsibility. The connection to surveillance advertising, sports gambling and Buy Now Pay Later is spot on.

Really appreciated this @washingtonpost op-Ed by @GovCox and my Capita colleague @ianmarcuscorbin on the need for helping the country - and especially young people - wrestle with deep questions of meaning as one antidote to our amusing-ourselves-to-death era.

Nihilism is a very real & very urgent problem, and an indictment of us older generations. @RoKhanna, here's a small thing we're doing @Harvard with @SpencerJCox. Would love to have you, @RichardvReeves & @JonHaidt come and speak! https://t.co/GuUkehvhIs @Sean_D_Kelly

This is such a powerful thread about the lack of hope of many young Americans. @RichardvReeves @JonHaidt @LHSummers have been sounding the alarm for years. I would be curious to hear in replies concrete & constructive ideas of things we must do to address this.
