As a result, I've decided to stop using the platform, and wanted to let my followers know, with thanks to them for enlightening conversations over the years. My profile will remain for now, unused - but I'll be having my conversations in person from now on, certainly not here. DM

Sadly, that conversation has often become toxic, a trend the new ownership seems intent on completing.

Shortly after I joined twitter in 2008, another user took me to task for just making announcements on the platform - "its about a conversation" she instructed. And she was right.

“It’s time the Conservative government realize people should not be working full-time jobs and having to go to a food bank. Nobody should be worrying whether or not they can keep the roof over their heads.” ~ @MaritStiles, Leader of the @OntarioNDP

Am I missing something here? Alberta leads Canada in renewables growth. The idea of pausing renewables development to "cover cleanup" while the province is littered in orphaned oil and gas wells absolutely boggles the mind. https://t.co/FpKUTOmbw5
theglobeandmail.com
The move will affect projects bigger than one megawatt as the province looks at issues including where they can be built and the impact on the power grid

Great article by @jason_kirby for @globeandmail on rejections of tentative deals by union members. My view, this is not a bad thing: “Workers expectations have been lifted, & that increases the bargaining power of the union itself.” #canlab
theglobeandmail.com
Recent rejections of proposed deals should be a wake-up call for unions and employers that workers are more willing to hit the picket lines instead of signing substandard deals

This is what the NAIRU looks like: hundreds of people, desperate for work despite a labour market the Bank of Canada claims is 'overheated', lining up for a shitty job at McDonalds. https://t.co/bAsJ5MV1UB Employers WANT more of this desperation: /2 #canlab #cdnecon

Alberta energy workers and innovators were set to take a leading role in the huge opportunities in clean energy. Danielle Smith has shut the door on billions of dollars in investment and screwed over workers. This is radical stupidity on an unprecedented scale.
The world is set to add over 440 gigawatts of renewable power capacity this year. This is a huge jump from last year & more than double what was added in 2019. More in our latest Renewable Energy Market Update → https://t.co/u1GUGLqwm2

I am very uncomfortable with the owner of this site repeatedly using his feed to promote the “white genocide” racial conspiracy theory — the same theory that was central to the Christchurch mass murderer’s manifesto — and to demonize outlets that point out fictions behind it

This is a legit leader. A year ago he grilled the grocery CEOs re: their profits. This week, walks the walk & visits the picket line. We need more politicians to be practical & judge issues case-by-case, & not be crafted ideologues from central casting.
In solidarity with workers in our community who are striking for better pay and hours, and an end to the exploitation of part-time work. Metro is raking in record profits. It should do right by its workers.

Anecdotal evidence only: I’ve been watching far more Leagues Cup as a neutral than I do of MLS regular season. That may say more about me than it does of the competition. Either way, I don’t think it’s the abject failure that many people were hoping.

@bbqguy1962 @iamdavidmiller Apple deal has not been helpful, AND there's a ton more soccer to watch on our devices/TVs than there was when Toronto FC began in 2007, & those first several lean years. Not having afternoon games has very much hurt, but I don't think (in this case) TFC management has options.

Yup. Apathy. Losing players like Richie lessens your bond with the club as a supporter; overselling superstars who flame out breeds cynicism. We are a long way from 2017. Or even 2015’s “an air of expectation”
Toronto FC - we’ve seen more anger from the committed base in years prior - problem is anger is good - it shows passion, registers emotion. A worse problem? Apathy. Easy to sense & feel totally indifferent re: current squad/management. The empty seats at kickoffs speak volumes.

There is no place on the planet with more potential for clean energy than Alberta. They have a workforce ready to make the clean energy transformation a reality. Conservative ideology is screwing over Alberta energy workers and leaving Alberta at the back of the line.
Global investors are looking for places to invest literally trillions of dollars in renewable energy projects. Alberta has been a leader in attracting its share of this investment. But, now the UCP is saying “take your money elsewhere.” Truly shocking. 🤯
